Who We Are

VK NIST (V.K. Nathan International School of Technology) was established in 2022 by Mrs. Suguna Sivarajah in honor of her parents, Mrs. Uruthiradchy Kathirgamanathan and Mr. Veerasingam Kathirgamanathan. They were lifelong educators who believed that every child deserves access to quality education and opportunity.

Today, VK NIST offers programs in English, ICT, Technology, Robotics, IoT, and practical learning—empowering students with confidence, curiosity, and future‑ready skills.

Our Purpose

VK NIST was created to bridge the gap between the opportunities available in developed countries and the limited resources in rural Sri Lanka. Inspired by the educational facilities and technologies she witnessed in the United States, Mrs. Uruthiradchy dreamed of bringing similar opportunities to her village.

Her daughter, Suguna, transformed that dream into a living institution—one that continues to grow with the support of family, community, and dedicated volunteers.

VK NIST is not just a school—it is a community movement. The people of Chulipuram, many of whom are connected through generations of family ties, came together to support this mission. Their encouragement, trust, and hands‑on involvement helped VK NIST survive its early challenges and grow into a respected educational center.

The village is a close-knit network—everyone is related in many different ways. This unity created a powerful foundation of support that made VK NIST possible.

In just a few years, VK NIST has:

  • Conducted annual award ceremonies with distinguished guests from the University of Jaffna.
  • Introduced Spelling NIST, a province‑wide English competition.
  • Launched ICT, Technology, and IoT workshops.
  • Built Chess Clubs and Competitions.
  • Supported students in developing academic, social, and life skills.

VK NIST continues to expand its programs and reach, shaping the next generation of respectful, confident, and capable young citizens.
